CAUTION FOR AUSTRALIA, NZ & USA
You need to be aware that some retail companies in Australia, NZ & USA require the printed barcodes on all products coming into their store to be verified by another organisation. The barcodes are usually verified according to ISO barcode verification standards.

Our barcode numbers (when properly printed) will pass a verification test (we can arrange this test for you through an independent GS1-accredited verification company). However, if the retailer specifies that the verification test requires is performed directly by GS1, then our barcodes will probably fail (as GS1 checks to see if you are registered as the original owner of the barcode number) – as our codes have been on sold (we have bought them from a company in the US, which bought them from UCC / GS1-US in 1994), they are unlikely to pass this verification test - even though they are unique numbers, originate from UCC (now GS1-US), scan well etc etc.

So … for Australia, NZ and USA, our barcodes will work in the vast majority of stores, but not all stores (ie we don't expect that they will be accepted by chains/stores that require all barcodes to be verified by GS1). Typically only some of the larger chains require barcode verification to be performed by GS1. We have connections to a company in NZ supplying products in NZ to about 70 independent stores & also 3 major chains … and no-one has ever questioned their barcodes – they work fine. We also know of other companies who supply goods in NZ & say they have never heard of barcode verification.

Many manufacturers consider the cost of purchasing barcodes elsewhere (including joining fees, annual fees, graphics charges etc) to be too high & hence look for alternatives like ourselves (we started this business because we had been in the same situation ourselves) – they consider us a reasonable low cost alternative as they are first putting their products on the market – aware that if they get their products into a large chain & find they need barcode verification, they will be happy to spend some more$ $ $ , pay annual fees & print new barcode stickers to put on their products.

NOTE: If you require a barcode verification report for your product, we can arrange it through a GS1-certified verification company. Our barcode numbers will pass this verification test, if they are printed correctly.
